Four high school seniors put their hopes, hearts, and humanity on the line as an asteroid hurtles toward Earth in this contemporary novel.
They always say that high school is the best time of your life.
Peter, the star basketball player at his school, is worried “they” might actually be right. Meanwhile Eliza can’t wait to escape Seattle—and her reputation—and perfect-on-paper Anita wonders if admission to Princeton is worth the price of abandoning her real dreams. Andy, for his part, doesn’t understand all the fuss about college and career—the future can wait.
Or can it? Because it turns out the future is hurtling through space with the potential to wipe out life on Earth. As these four seniors—along with the rest of the planet—wait to see what damage an asteroid will cause, they must abandon all thoughts of the future and decide how they’re going to spend what remains of the present.

Eliza is an artsy girl with a bit of a bad reputation, mostly because of a brief and ill-advised moment in a darkroom with another girl’s boyfriend.

Peter is the boyfriend in question. He’s a star basketball player who has just begun to question why he’s dedicated his life to playing games when Ardor arrives.

Andy is the prototypical slacker, still reeling from the failed suicide of his best friend, Bobo.

Anita is a high-achieving scholarly type who secretly wants to be a musician, though her parents are totally against it.

***My Review***
This book was AMAZING! It really put things in perspective for me, and feel that it will "give" something to everyone who reads it! This is one of those books that you think about LONG after the last page is turned, and I cannot recommend it enough. I think about how easily I could have passed on this book, and am SO thankful that I gave it a chance. I don't usually enjoy contemporary fiction, but this book took all my preconceptions, bottled them up, and smashed that bottle with a sledgehammer! We All Looked Up will literally make you laugh, cry, scream into the void, and end up completely blown away! I loved the writing style. It was unique and honest. The characters are remarkably well developed and utterly unforgettable. This book takes our lives, from the petty little things we worry about each day to the major life-altering stuff, and lets us know that we are not alone. Do youself a favor and read this book. I cannot recommend We All Looked Up enough. I want everyone to feel as hopeful, changed, and ALIVE as I do after reading it.

  6. Your review and the synopsis is so good, even if the cover is kind of god awful (sorry, but it is!) I'm really enjoying how this book is told in the perspective of kids who are trying to decide their future, while an asteroid make take away all their futures!

I truly appreciate each and every one of your comments!
